From: Bob Reinhardt & Spec Miata Racing To: Miata Owners & Instructors Subject: Miatas at Texas World Speedway Date: April 6,7th 2002 Hi and Happy New Year! This e-mail is an update about the Miatas at TWS event. **Sorry if you get several of these, its hard to get all the e-mail address correct** For some of you this will be the first you have heard about this event. Complete information can be found at www.specmiataracing.com. Briefly, this is a driver's education event where you will get to driver your Miata on one of the few high-bank 2-mile oval tracks in the United States. The event takes place on a 2.9-mile road course. Instructors are provided for novice students. Since I've tried to send this to every Miata club in the US, let me ask those who are the designated contact (from Miata.net list) to forward this to their membership. There will be prize for the person(s) who travels the furthest distance to attend. Please forgive me if you are not interested in driving your Miata at high speeds. In addition to the Miata clubs, let me explain how you got on this list. Some of you have sent in your registration for this event, some of you are instructors and some of you attended MSR II and have not registered for this event. Status of Event: The event WILL happen. I'm too far into this to back out now. However, I'm woefully behind in getting enough participants to break even. So I'm asking everyone to help by contacting people and getting them to participate. While the list this has gone to is extensive, I need all to help in getting people to submit their registration. I'm extending the date to get into this event for $195 to Jan 31, 2002. Contingency Plan: If, by then end of January, I do not have enough Miatas to make this financially viable, I'm going to have to invite some others to participate. This would change the event slightly, but I'm committed to not having OTM on the track with the Miatas. I would probably ask Licensed SCCA drivers (Spec RX-7 ideally) to form a single run group. I would combine White and Yellow in the Miata groups to give everyone the track time. I do appreciate all the interest and would like to make this an annual event, however, this first time will be the acid test to see if there is enough interest. IF interest grows and there is a second event I may be able to make this more like MSR I and II. However, the track rental at TWS is SIGNIFICANTLY higher (more than 50% higher) then at MSR and the $15 difference between the MSR entry fee and my fee does not cover that difference. For this year I've cut out the lunches because TWS requires using their food concessions. Building the event for future years will allow the food to be added back in the future. To be honest, I'm trying to run this like other Driver Education events at TWS. It is more important to have a successful event where the ownership of TWS wants us to come back. Please contact me for further information at bob@specmiataracing.com Further updates will be forth coming as we get closer. THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP Bob Reinhardt Hornet - '99 Green -------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am sorry about this second message. I'm glad I don't get charged by = the number of addresses in the "to" list. I think I mislead some people into thinking that the event in April is = for Spec Miatas - this is not the case - ANY Miata can participate. You = do not need any special equipment except a helmet - and I'll try to = have some loaners on hand for that. If you have a rollbar and have some = experience you will be placed in a more advanced group of drivers. Thanks for the response already. Bob Reinhardt College Station, Texas
