A note from Carl McGinnes, who is roving through
the USA with his blue 1991. He writes us:
"Leon, You may recall me asking the list for input for bike racks for my Miata for a
cross country trip. I appreciated the responses you and others sent. I
decided on getting the Rigid Trailer hitch. It is easy to take the rack on
and off.
FYI, there are two pics attached. The first shows the bike and rack,
taken in the Mississippi Delta Country, on famed US 61. The second is on a
mountain road (sans bike and rack) near Los Alamos, New Mexico. Post them to
the list or web page if you wish. It is GREAT to have the opportunity to
drive a Miata across the continent! Carl McGinnes (from Las Vegas)."
- 4/2/02:
The Miata Owners Club has started a dealer discount program.
See the MOC link in our menu.
Unfortunately, no participating dealers in North Florida yet.
- 3/10/01:
From now on, club meetings will start at 6 pm instead of 7 pm.
They will still be on the third Thursday of the
month, at the Buckhead Brewery, 1900 Capital Circle NE.

There is a big controversy within the Miata Club of America, of which we
are a chapter. The main controversy is
between the president and founder at one side, and the publisher
of Miata Magazine at the other. The president and founder have first
witheld financial support for the magazine, and are now withholding
the mailing addresses. The publisher will presumably still honor
existing subscriptions if you inform them of your mailing address
on www.miata.net. But it looks like eventually you will have to make
a choice between
subscribing to Miata Magazine directly (for $20)
or subscribe to MCA (for $29) and recieve some (still unspecified)
replacement magazine. Note however that there is a restraining order
by the District Court of Southern California
preventing the MCA from starting another magazine.
Leon's view of the controversy. If you
want to offer a dissenting view, E-mail it to Leon for inclusion.
Latest: MCA is now stating in a recorded message on their phone
line (770-205-8832) that members are not receiving their magazines
due to a difficulty at the printer and that it will be
resolved soon. This is untrue. Members are not receiving
their magazines because the MCA is under a court order not to publish
their own magazine. Since the date for a jury trial is set for end October,
it is unclear when the issue will be resolved. While the MCA
is offering to extend your membership for the time lost, it is
unclear whether after a year of no magazines, there will still be
an MCA, making the value of the extension doubtful. Renew your
MCA membership at your own risk.
Latest (4/15/01): The MCA has terminated operations. Mazda North
America is setting up a new club to replace it. Miata Magazine
stays. See miata.net.
