Automobile Magazine About the Miata

In the February 1997 issue, Automobile Magazine selected the Mazda Miata as one of their 1997 All-Stars.

Automobile Magazine wrote:

Three prestigious German car companies have decided to give Miata drivers a place to go when the fun wears off. We had two of their offerings [the BMW Z3 and Mercedes Benz SLK] along on our All-Stars run around the Cumberland Plateau and were nearly unanymous in naming Mazda's aging roadster a better buy than either one of them.
You will understand that the editor meant to write `timeless' instead of `aging' roadster. The Miata is a recreation of 1960s roadsters; since 1960s roadsters do not change, the Miata cannot age. Let us ignore this minor mistake; the editors proved sound and intelligent in their overall views on cars.
