HKG Twin Exhaust
See miata.net for pictures.
Installation
I made the cut-out in the rear bumper for the exhaust tip first, covering the places
where the knife slipped with touch-up paint. If I had to do it again, I would
try to remove the bumper instead. After making the cut in the exact center, the
exhaust turned out not to hang in the exact center, causing it to be not centered
in the cut-out. Fooling around with the hangers only temporarily changed the location
of the exhaust.
Evaluation
I seemed to have a lot of backfiring with this exhaust. This may have been due
to either the exhaust or my cat converter with 60 k miles on it. I replaced both
exhaust and cat at the same time with Jackson Racing items, and the problem
disappeared. In any case, the root cause is no doubt that a Sebring runs rich on
idling the throttle. I liked the sound in acceleration, though.
Price

to have the cover painted that goes over the cut-out in the bumper where the
original exhaust was.
