Koolwire Spark Plug Wires
The Miata spark plug wires tend to go quickly, due to the
high under-hood temperatures and the fact that the spark
plugs fire twice for each combustion cycle. Also, it is
easy to get engine oil on the wires while adding oil.
Apparently, you should be able to see sparking of poor
wires when opening the hood while it is dark, possibly
after spraying a mist of water over the engine. I did
not try.
The effect of poor wires is hesitation at low rmp, and
at high rpm when you kick it. Although my blue NKGs
were relatively new, I had that difficulty, so I replaced
them by the (only) wires I found at Pep Boys.
Installation
Do not take off more than one wire at a time, or you will have
trouble figuring out which wire goes where. Take off wires
from the longest to the shortest and replace by the new wires
as you go along.
Evaluation
The hesitation is gone.
