I went from Cordele up I 75 to Macon and from there US 129 all the way to the gap and beyond. I must say US 129 is very pleasant most of the way, often scenic, and has some good curves already before the gap. Less than five and a half hours from Macon to Tapioca Lodge. (I left Cordele at 10 am and was at the Lodge before 4:30.) I found lodging in Alcoa.
