Notes about the pictures
-
I found that monitors and monitor setting vary greatly. If the
pictures do not look good, try playing around with your brightness and
contrast settings.
-
The picture names are sequential: "r101h.jpg" stands for roll 1,
picture 01 on the roll, half size (q=quarter size).
-
All pictures were made with a standard 50 mm lens. I did not think of
bringing my telephoto lens or my panorama lens. May be just as well:
now all pictures are as I saw things.
-
Almost all pictures are "drivers view": while driving Bozo, I would
see some particularly nice scenery, so I would put Bozo at the side of
the road and make a picture of it. I did not go hunt for pictures.
-
The pictures are not comprehensive. I saw much incredible scenery
with no convenient place to park. Other times, I just figured I
already had enough pictures and needed to make some distance. I did
not set out on this trip to make pictures.
-
You will not see close-up pictures of towering redwoods or of towering
mountains. I believe that it is impossible to convey such experiences
through a picture: a picture is always just a frame around a
little piece of the scenery. It is not the same as
standing in it. So you will see redwoods and mountains from a long
distance, but not from close by. Sorry, but the only way to really
see some things correctly is by going there!
-
I shot a number of pictures of beautiful snow covered 65 (to Land's
End) in Colorado and I lost them! Go see yourself in spring: 65 is
beautiful. A deserted snowscape of twisty roads and a white Miata.
-
Most rolls had a red haze on them; probably from being too hot above
the exhaust in my trunk. My 20 year old camera also seems to have had
a problem. Need to get a digital camera! I used Photoshop to restore
the colors as well as possible to the original. But they will never
get as beautiful as correctly shot undamaged pictures.
