From Kalispell down through Montana and Idaho. US 93 is beautiful, but this leg I experienced my first real bad weather: area-wide showers and grey skies.
Since the rain made everything look somewhat grey, I decided I might as well make some miles. So I skipped the old US 93 through Sun Valley and stayed on the new 93. But there were many moments of strange beauty when the sun managed to get through the clouds and cast silver highlights.
