There is a story to this license plate of one of the first Miatas (1990) sold. At the time, orders for Miatas far exceeded demand, and there was a waiting list of 6 to 8 months to get one. As John Jarvis found out when he tried to get one. But John needed a car, so eventually he went to the dealer to get some Mazda sedan. There he saw this red Miata beauty waiting for some lucky customer. So John said to the dealer; "Well I asume this one is taken??" The dealer said, "No, actually this one is now for sale. We just got it in, and the young woman who ordered it did not manage to get her financing together. Do you want to take it for a test drive?" Within thirty minutes after John entered the dealer, word came in that an Atlanta dealer was buying all Miatas within range. But at that time, John was already the proud owner of the red one.
