So I checked in, took my collection of spare quarters, and went to the laundry machines. These proved to need tokens. So I went to the front desk. The lady refused to sell me tokens! She said: "I cannot sell it to you: sometimes the machines work and sometimes they don't." Yet they were still advertising "guest laundry" on their sign! Clearly fraudulent. If the guest laundry is not operational, reputable places will remove the "guest laundry" from their sign until it is fixed.
I did not have much choice about doing my laundry. So she sent me to a "Flying J's" gas station. With poor directions, so that I had to come back. Of course by that time the restaurant was closed. I had dinner in "Thad's Restaurant" in Flying J's. I could not catch up with my E-mail before late at night either.
Next morning at 11:07 am, while I was moving out after too litlle sleep, the morning attendant called my room and asked in a clearly offensive voice: "Room 15? Are you staying another day?!" Any other place I have stayed would have given a friendly reminder that the check out time was at 11. This place starts threatening its customers with charging them for another day if they are 7 minutes late?
I believe this was the first time I stayed in an Econo Lodge. But I can tell you for sure it was the last.
Stay away if you see this sign! I will:
