It rained all day. In the morning I visited the Clark Museum in Williamsburg. It has an extensive set of permanent impressionist paintings (30 Renoirs) and had an exposition on American impressionism.

Then over MA 2, some minor roads, including a gravel one, VT 8, VT 9, VT 100, VT 30, VT 11, VT 100, US 4, NH 10, NH 112, NH 116 N, I 93 S, through Franconia Gap. All very beautiful, often winding along rock-strewn streams through the mountains. But that rain. Lodging at the I 93 exit to the Kancamagus Highway. This is the fun road in New Hampshire, my sources (to wit, Ron Grundy from RAMMM), tell me. Let's hope it has cleared up by tomorrow.
