I drove New Hampshire according to the suggestions of Ron Grundy: NH 112, left on Bear Notch Road (an excellent road and free of tourists) to Bartlett, then US 302 E, West Side Road to NH 16 N. Rain again.
The guard at the entrance to the Mount Washington Auto Road noted that there would be no views due to the thick, low cloud cover. On my question about the road quality, he said: "some gravel pieces." That was enough for me, I gave the thing a miss. Especially since I saw warnings for people with a fear of heights. I have not forgotten Red Mountain Pass in Colorado.
Then US 2, Maine 17, 16, and 27 to Canada. Had to give up my mace spray at the border. Since I always forget to unlock the armrest in which it is stored, they are welcome to it. In Maine, it actually became dry, and some sun poked through once I was in Canada.
Quebec 212, 161, 204, 173, CA 73 to Quebec City. Good hotel on 173, but another proprietary phone system, so no Internet access. Bozo is running rough and even stalled. I will try to take the J&S out of the circuit tomorrow and see what happens. According to my J&S sensor, at higher highway speeds, the J&S seems to retard a single cylinder, and by as much as 16 degrees!
