Went through Niagara Falls today. Another memory lane. I was there before. However, this time I took the Maid of the Mist boat to view the Falls up close. Got wet all over, despite the plastic ponchos handed out. Impressive, in any case.

It just bugs me that the amount of water going through nowadays is just a small fraction of what it used to be; much of the power is being diverted for electricity generation. I would like to see what it used to be.

I also went up in the Canadian viewing tower (the Skylon tower, I think it was called.) Interesting to see that the American Falls are just a small side branch of the main stream over the Canadian Falls.

I could not take any pictures from the tower, since my digital camera stopped working. Obviously, from all the water spray on the Maid of the Mist. Fortunately, it works again many hours later. I would hate to have to get a new one, now that new ones have too many pixels for the Web, thus presenting all sorts of logistical problems. And where to get one while travelling, anyway?

So far this seems a vacation of break-downs that never happened. Bozo was running rough and back firing badly in the exhaust, but a washing of the air filter reduced the problem considerably. And the belt driving the AC and supercharger was slipping badly (should have tightened it before I left), but some stuff from a spray can seems to have eliminated the problem for now.

I stopped at the Comfort Inn in St. Thomas.
