It was a day of roads winding through the forests. First through the Land Between the Lakes, then the first part of the Natchez Trace. With some scenic stretches of US 79 and 64 added.
The quiet Natchez Trace winding through the wooded Nashville hills was very nice. I went down a trail a few hundred feet to look at a waterfall. All alone. Not a tourist within miles. The wild life thought it was nice too. I had to stop for a long line of birds crossing the road. I think they were turkeys. Definitely birds. Something else crossed the road also far in front of my car. About the size of a small dog, but too fat for a fox, I would say. I was vigilant, already having lost a fender to a deer in Montana. No "if you go fast enough, they cannot hit you" deer here, fortunately.
I stopped at the Richland Inn in Pulaski.
