I drove through Illinois, having to take the Interstates through St. Louis, and Missouri. I stopped at the Route 66 Park in Missouri to pick up a (free) map of Route 66 which was very helpful. Missouri signs are less good than those in Illinois. To compensate for the free maps, I bought a Route 66 bumper sticker, for the duration.
I made another stop at the Meramec Caverns, in which Jesse James escaped capture using the underground river. The windy road to the caverns was nice too. With all this stopping, I drove only 210 miles the enire day. I need to do better than that. Though compared to 1926, I am surely flying through there.
