I was planning to cross the Saint Laurent by ferry, but both departures today were already booked, four hours before the first one left. I will have to take the one tomorrow, which leaves from a neighboring city.
So I had a day on my hand. I first did my laundry, since I had only one clean shirt left. I had looked up the French for "laundromat" a couple of days ago; one online dictionary did not have it but the other told me it was "Laverie Automatique." Each time I asked someone, they send me to a gas station. Apparently they thought I wanted to wash my car, though Bozo had just been washed and I had mentioned "clothes" each time.
Anyway, remember that laundromat is "Buanderie", not "Laverie Automatique." I would never have guessed it if I had not seen it in a bi-lingual motel services directory. And the laundromat, excuse me, buanderie, the only buanderie in this city and the neighboring ones, was not at a gas station; it was hidden away behind "Mom's Restaurant" with no sign on the street to direct you to it. Aren't yellow pages wonderful, as soon as you know the right word to look up?
Finishing the laundry still left my most of the afternoon. I decided to drive the coastline somewhat farther, though this, like the road north yesterday, meant driving the road you came back again. There are really no other options beyond this point. But it was a beautiful day and a temperature in the mid seventies, so it was an ideal top down day. The sky was blue, the river and lakes even bluer, the pines deep shades of green, and the roads full of ups and downs and curves. What more can a Miata owner possibly ask?
