Having reached metropolis Watson Lake, the first thing Bozo needed was an oil change. Knowing no mechanic wants to do this with a hot engine, I brought it to the shop directly across the street from the Motor Inn.
The mechanic proved willing to do it, but he had never seen a Miata before, and he did not know where the oil filter was. This of course is where a Miata owner applies gentle tact. Which did not make a difference in this case, since the mechanic had arms the thickness of small trees, quite unsuitable for replacing the oil filter on a Miata. So I ended up doing this part myself.
After that, time for a car wash! The picture above shows Bozo the previous day before he got really dirty. The yellow dirt was oil drenched and no amount of car-wash hosing and brushing would get it off. It needed to be wiped off manually with paper towels.
After that, up the Alaska Highway to the real big city, Whitehorse.
